More eCommerce Options….

Since our last Merchant News in fall of 2018, there have been some significant developments in eCommerce for Harvard merchants as a result of the Revenue Management Systems project. Starting July 2019, there will be two more ways to accept ecommerce transactions while taking advantage of TouchNet GL integration.

Harvard eCommerce Gateway (HEG)

For those departments using a custom website or non-TouchNet Ready Partner (such as Salesforce), HUIT Financial Application Developers have built an integration that can connect a specialized front-end system or custom website to TouchNet payment gateway.

TouchNet uPay has pre-built integrations to over 100 TouchNet Ready Partners. With the HEG offering, there will now be a common integration framework to uPay for custom websites. This standard process allows your existing system and web site to benefit from a reduced development time for accepting payments. This new service will accept both credit card and eCheck/ACH payment types. If you would like to learn more about this offering, email otm_ecommerce@harvard.edu

Oracle Receivables

The Revenue Management Systems project team built the integration between Oracle Receivables and TouchNet uPay to enable online payments of invoices. As a result, there is now a self-service process whereby business units allow end-users to review bills, statements, and make direct online payments using Oracle iReceivables. Previously, customers had to call us to make payments.

If you do not currently use Central Account Receivables, this new process also supports sending invoices to customers for making ecommerce payments. Contact Central AR for more information.

Decision Tool for eCommerce Products

With so many options for accepting payments now available, how does a department determine which is the tool that most closely matches their needs? The HUIT Financial Management team along with OTM and Central Accounts Receivable have developed an automated tool to help you decide.

Depending on how you answer the questions, the decision tool will identify one of the following: Oracle iReceivables, Touchnet uStore, TouchNet uPay, or Harvard eCommerce Gateway.

Just answer a few questions and the product will be revealed using the Revenue Management Solution Selector. This decision tool will be live starting July 1st.

PCI Compliance 2019

Recertification of PCI Compliance for 2019 will be coming a close within the next few weeks.  If you have not started the process, do not delay.

Recertifying your merchant account requires completing 1) PCI Awareness Training, 2) Self-Assessment Questionnaire and 3) Credit Card Merchant Agreement annually.

Maintaining PCI Compliance is a daily activity and achieved by implementing systems and processes that either minimize or remove cardholder data from the merchant’s environment.  But once a year, merchants must attest to these systems and processes as part of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated to ensure the financial and reputational security of the University.
